Why I’m Stepping Away from a Successful 16-Year Career to Be My Authentic Self
After a decade and a half, I’d finally “made it” as a business writer. No longer was I waking up in a hot sweat, wondering how I’d pay my bills. I was finally charging what I was worth, and I’d made a name for myself in my industry.
So why did I experience a sense of dread when I woke up every Monday? Why did I finish my work as quickly as I could so I had time to read about things I enjoyed, like tarot, crystals, and spirituality?
Like many of us, the pandemic gave me time to reflect. Making money wasn’t everything if I wasn’t happy. And I hated how I felt split in two: the git-’er-done entrepreneur by day, the witchy-woo practitioner by night.
And so I made a decision. A brave one.
I decided to step away from the marketing and writing I’d been doing since completing my MBA and launch a new business, one more aligned with my spirituality.
Coming Out of the Spiritual Closet
It took me over a year to find the right fit for me: an intuitive spiritual coach. Along the way, I also realized I had a knack for connecting with Goddess energy, and started offering Goddess Oracle Readings.
Let me tell you: it wasn’t easy to tell people who had only known that logical, analytical side of me that I “talk to Goddesses!” I was nervous about being rejected. About losing clients. And friends, if I’m honest.
But then something interesting happened. Even people who only knew me as a business writer started talking to me about my spiritual side. I began writing about business and spirituality, and people came out of the woodwork.
It seems I’m not the only one who seeks balance between the spiritual and the logical.
That realization, along with the overwhelming response, has led me to my mission: to help spiritually-savvy women start businesses that are aligned with their authentic selves. It’s less about “here’s what you need to do to start a business” and more about overcoming mental blocks. So many women think they need to put everyone else’s needs before their own, so they never step into their authenticity. Or they don’t charge what they’re worth because they are afraid. I help them work through these obstacles so they can step into their own light.
Every Day Should Bring You Joy
I no longer dread Mondays. I wake up refreshed and excited to see what the day will bring. One of the many benefits of being an intuitive business coach is that no two clients are the same, and each week brings new developments. I have to think on my feet and tune into my intuition to feel into what a client needs in the moment. I consider myself part cheerleader, part project manager!
I love helping women zero in on what type of business they want to start. It’s interesting: it seems so obvious to me what they want, but they don’t see it. It takes them speaking it out loud and me reflecting back to them that desire, like a mirror. I also love getting into the nitty-gritty, helping them get a plan for launching and growing their business. Often, we are so overwhelmed with all the things we need to do, and what we really need is an accountability partner. That’s me!
I also bring in the help of my cosmic team. I pull Goddess oracle cards for clients who have a question, then go into meditation. There, I have a lovely visual experience where I sit and chat with a Goddess to get her Divine wisdom for the client. I package it all up in a beautiful document that my clients love!
I’m a firm believer that life is too short to be miserable in the work that we do. Whether you dream of becoming a reiki healer, a tarot card reader, or any type of spiritual entrepreneur, step into that destiny. You need permission from no one but yourself.
